Dr. Cheryl Mukai

Dr. Mukai was born and raised in Honolulu. After graduating from Punahou School, she headed to Chicago to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Dr. Mukai's passion for veterinary medicine was sparked during her time as a technician at King Street Pet Hospital, where she affirmed her childhood interest in the field. She went on to study Veterinary Medicine at Massey University in New Zealand, earning her BVSc in 2015. Upon graduation, she worked at the Wellington SPCA where she gained experience in both shelter medicine and general practice.

After a few years, Dr. Mukai returned home to Hawaii and worked as an associate at VCA Family & Oahu Veterinary Specialty Center before rejoining King Street Pet Hospital. She has a keen interest in canine rehabilitation, dermatology, and dentistry, and strives to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in these fields.

Outside of work, Dr. Mukai enjoys volunteering at the Molokai Humane Society, sewing, traveling, and spending time with her rescue dogs Kiwi, Lilikoi, and Truffles.
