Dr. Ochiai was born and raised in Hawaii. She participated in soccer, track and even dabbled in basketball at Mid-Pacific High School before pursuing higher education at Cornell University. She continued on to graduating from Oregon State University and Washington State University Veterinary School in 1992. In her last year at Oregon State she competed in a bodybuilding contest and placed second overall.

Returning to Hawaii after completing her education, Dr. Ochiai practiced at several different clinics over the years as a full-time and relief veterinarian, and even doing house calls. Early in her career, she achieved a notable second-place standing in the Paradise Cup and explored competitive powerlifting. After years of hard work and achievements, she retired from the sport.

She currently shares her residence with her four feline companions: Auli’i, Sebastian, Mooshoo and Alita. Dr. Ochiai enjoys weightlifting and indulges in podcasts and audiobooks, reflecting her ongoing pursuit of knowledge.
